Van Gogh e a astronomia
“Steve Olson, an astronomer from the Southwest Texas State University, discovered something significant about Vincent Van Gogh’s painting, White House at Night . While leading a field trip in Auvers-sur-Oise, France, Olson located the house featured in the painting. Using the structure as a reference, Olson realized what direction Van Gogh was facing. It became apparent that the star featured in the painting was actually Venus. Using this information, Olson figured out the time of day the picture was created. He believes that Van Gogh painted the canvas from the bottom up over the course of an afternoon and early evening because the shadows in the illustration point to the afternoon and Venus didn’t rise until after sunset.”
